By accessing or using TaxEase Canada ("Service," "we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TaxEase Canada. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
TaxEase Canada is an AI-powered tax education and simplification portal for Canadians. We provide:
- AI chatbot for tax questions (powered by OpenAI GPT-4)
- Interactive tax calculators (FHSA, RRSP, TFSA, etc.)
- Educational articles and guides
- Scenario planning and comparison tools

TaxEase Canada is NOT a tax filing service and does NOT provide professional tax advice. We provide educational guidance only. Our AI chatbot and calculators are for informational purposes and should not be relied upon as professional tax advice.

3.1 Account Creation
You must create an account to use certain features. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to update it as necessary.
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach.
3.3 Age Requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use TaxEase Canada. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 or older.
4.1 Subscription Tiers
We offer the following subscription tiers:
- Free Trial: 7-day trial with 10 AI queries (one-time, new users only)
- Free: Limited features (10 total AI queries, 3 saved scenarios)
- Starter: $60/year or $5/month (50 AI queries/month, 10 saved scenarios, PDF exports)
- Premium: $120/year or $10/month (unlimited AI queries, unlimited scenarios, priority support)
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method.
4.3 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time through the Customer Portal.
4.4 Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on first-time subscriptions. See our Refund Policy for details.
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any laws
- Violate the intellectual property rights of TaxEase Canada or third parties
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Service without permission
- Abuse or overload our AI chatbot or calculators (e.g., excessive queries, spam)
- Share your account credentials with others
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service to provide tax advice to third parties for commercial purposes
Violation of this policy may result in immediate termination of your account without refund.
Our AI chatbot is powered by OpenAI's GPT-4 and trained on publicly available CRA content. While we strive for accuracy, the AI may:
- Provide incorrect, incomplete, or outdated information
- Misinterpret your question or provide irrelevant answers
- Generate responses that sound confident but are factually wrong ("hallucinations")
- Fail to account for your specific tax situation or recent tax law changes
You use the AI chatbot at your own risk. Always verify AI responses with official CRA resources or a qualified tax professional. We are not liable for any decisions you make based on AI responses.
7.1 Our Content
All content on TaxEase Canada (text, graphics, logos, software, etc.) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
7.2 CRA Content
We use publicly available content from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) under the Government of Canada Terms and Conditions. CRA content is © His Majesty the King in Right of Canada.
7.3 Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., AI queries, calculator inputs). By using the Service, you grant us a license to use, store, and process your content to provide the Service and improve our AI.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TAXEASE CANADA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, or business opportunities
- Tax penalties, interest, or fines resulting from reliance on our Service
- Errors or inaccuracies in AI responses or calculator results
- Service interruptions, downtime, or data loss
- Third-party actions (e.g., CRA audits, tax disputes)
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability. If you live in such a jurisdiction, some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TaxEase Canada, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Tax decisions you make based on our Service
10.1 By You
You may cancel your account at any time through the Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
10.2 By Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the Service. Termination for cause is without refund.
10.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, you lose access to the Service and your saved data (scenarios, queries, etc.). We may delete your data after 30 days.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Ontario, Canada, except where prohibited by law.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through a notice on our website. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and TaxEase Canada.
13.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
13.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.
13.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
